Another week has now past and it is time for me to write here in my blog. Shayne, the teacher who requires that I keep a blog for his class, suggests that I write about my favorite punctuation mark for this week's entry, but I figure that I'll skip that fascinating, interesting fact about me and try to come up with something that the readers of this blog may find a little more interesting. If you really want to know what my favorite punctuation mark is leave me notes on this entry and I'll write a whole blog about it another time.
Last week I mentioned that I wanted to start wood carving as a hobby, and I am happy to say that I have started. I have successfully carved my first object. My inspiration for this project was to carve the number one because this is the first carving I have ever done. I am not talking about just a straight line for the number one like we use when write the number, but the more fancy style that computers use to distinguish a "1" from a straight line. Halfway through my project, I decided to change my strange looking 1 to a simply trophy that starts out wide at the top and narrows down to a base at the bottom. If most people saw my finished object, I have claimed a trophy, they would probably ask me what it is, but for a first carving I am proud of it and know I can only improve. I think my next project will be a fish.
This last week I also had a great time with Rob as he and I listened to the BYU v. San Diego State basketball game. Earlier in the day I called Kelli to see if they had the channel that the game was going to be broadcast on. She wasn't sure, but said she thought they did. I then called Rob, and he told me about the same thing. Half expecting to not be able to watch the game, I headed over Kelli and Rob's house with pizza and root-beer. When I got there, I was surprised to see that they already had pizza and root-beer, which are necessities at any sports party, but I wasn't too surprised when Rob told me that he couldn't find the right TV channel. Everything worked out better than if we were able to watch the game anyways though, because we were able to listen to the game over the internet, I was able to check the score of the Spurs v. Utah game during commercial breaks, Rob was able to play video games, and when we didn't know which team a player was on we were able to look it up on the internet. Overall it was a much better experience that watching the game on TV.

Relaxed Week and A New Hobby
This past week has been a good one. With Monday being a Holiday, my more strenuous classes met only once this week and I haven't had any projects due so it was a nice week.
On Thursday evening my ward had a temple trip. I was expecting many people in the ward to go, but surprisingly there were only six of us. Two girls went and did baptisms for the dead and four of us went and did an endowment session. It was incredibly busy in the Temple. The workers came in and told us that it was one of the busiest nights the Temple has ever seen. It took us a little over an hour before we could get into our session and by the time we were all finished up, a little after 10pm, the rest of the ward had left the Creamery where we were suppose to meet to get ice cream. Although we had permission to go anyways and to get reimbursed, the collective vote of the group was to just go home because it was so late.
In all of my extra free time, I have decided to find a hobby. I know my Mcom Professor catches and trains falcons for his hobby, and several other people all have there thing, so I'm going to try several new things out. I probably won't try Falconry, at least not as a student, but I am going to try wood carving/whittling. I've just bought several books and supply on Amazon, and hopefully it will help me to fill up more of my free time with something enjoyable besides watching t.v.
I still would much rather prefer to do social things with people, but when social things are inconvenient, or people are all doing other things, I hope this can help give me something productive to do.

A good week and a long nap.
This has been a good week. I am continuing to enjoy all of my classes. To make everything even a little better this weekend is a 3 day weekend--meaning a 4 1/2 day weekend for me. Monday is a Holiday so campus is closed; Obviously Saturday and Sunday are the typical weekend; I have no classes on Friday so I consider that to be part of my weekend; and on Thurdays I only have two religion classes, neither of which are very academicly demanding, and they are both over by 1pm, so I consider my Thursday afternoon to be the official start of my weekend.
Unfortunately, I have enjoyed this break a little too much and have negelected to do any of my homework. Luckily it is only Saturday night, and I can justify my lack of diligent homework doing because of work, but if I had really wanted to I could have done much more studying. I have planned on doing almost everything Sunday and Monday and even some on Tuesday when I get out of class at 1.
I like this semester much more than last semester because I do have the flexability to study more "when I want," verses the "when I had a spare chance" from last semester. Last semester I was so busy with school and work that I had almost no free time for myself. This semester, even if it means not working as many hours and bringing in less money (or having to dip more into my savings) I have made it a priority to enjoy life more and allow myself more free time. Mostly so I can be more sociable and try and date more.
Something that made me really happy today, but I'm sure I will regret later as I'm trying to go to sleep is that I took about a 4 hour nap today. I had to work last night till about 10pm. Then I went over to Emma and Kyle's house to play some games whith them and Kelli and Rob. I was on my way over to Kelli's house when I remembered that I had cleaning inspections today, so I went home and cleaned. I didn't fall asleep till about 1:30, but I had to wake up at 5, to get to work. I got home from work around 3:30 ish, watch some TV and ate lunch, then fell asleep around 6pm. It wasn't untill 10 pm that I woke up and now I'm over at Kelli and Rob's watching Psych.

A Good Start to a Good New Year
The New Year brings with it lots of changes. Included in all of these changes are: re-started diets, writing 2011 for the date, resolutions to improve, and a new semester. In preparation for the new year, I was reflecting upon this past year and all the various things I have done with the intention of evaluating my progress in life and to come up with other strategies I could apply to improve even more. As I started my reflecting, I remembered a year ago when I had started the New Year as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Due to rules and restrictions I decided that to start the year 2010 I wanted to take a shower. As I thought about my shower and how I started the New Year, I smiled because of all the symbolism of starting the year "clean." This clean can be interpreted literally, or in the sense that I have a clean slate (or have started over) and I can make my own decisions and choices in the upcoming year. The shower also made me smile because of how much I enjoy them. Few things feel as good as a hot shower. I decided that to start this New Year of 2011 I wanted again to start with a shower. I wanted to start the year by doing something that I enjoy and makes me happy; I wanted to start the New Year off right.
That good start to this New Year has continued as this new semester has started. I really enjoy all of my classes and my schedule. This semester I am taking several business classes and a couple of religion classes totaling 13 credit hours. Outside of classes I am also working at Home Depot again this semester.
My blog is finally created
Many people have been asking me when I am going to get a blog, and thanks to the help of my sister-in-law (Julianna Foote) I finally have one created that looks great. Now it is up to me to make sure that I keep writing in it and keep everything interesting so that people will like to follow it. Thanks Julianna.
